There is a brief lull at Greenwood right after a storm passes and before the next one moves in, when the trail falls completely silent. Walking through the fresh powder, the heavy pine boughs weighed down with lavender snow, you can catch the faint, warm glow of the sun trying to break through the tree line. I painted this with thick impasto layers and bold line work to capture that rhythmic shift in light—the deep indigo shadows cast across the path playing against the soft gold peeking through bare winter branches.

The textured fine art paper is an archival, Ph-neutral, OBA-free, thick and gorgeous 400 gsm medium, made by Strathmore. The special top coating of this paper gives it unique precision, contrast and color saturation for a matte medium. It is also much more resistant to water spills than most fine art paper.
