As day turned to twilight at Greenwood, the setting sun dropped right behind a stand of bare trees, setting the background ablaze in warm copper and gold. That intense glow pushed long, dramatic electric-blue shadows right across the snow-covered ground, wrapping around the purple-toned trunks. I painted this with bold, thick strokes to capture that striking winter contrast—the cold, quiet floor of the woods holding onto the last fiery light of the day.
