Hiking along the Claremont section of the Trans Canada Trail late in the day, the setting sun broke through the tall pines in a blaze of warm orange and gold. That rich, tangerine glow lit up the forest canopy and scattered long, cool violet shadows across the deep snowbanks below. I painted this with heavy, textured oil strokes to capture that electric contrast—the fiery warmth pushing through the trees and the quiet, snowbound forest floor taking in the last light of the afternoon.

The textured fine art paper is an archival, Ph-neutral, OBA-free, thick and gorgeous 400 gsm medium, made by Strathmore. The special top coating of this paper gives it unique precision, contrast and color saturation for a matte medium. It is also much more resistant to water spills than most fine art paper.
