Standing near Claremont—where Tom Thomson was born—you can feel the deep roots of Canadian landscape art in the air, especially late on a cold afternoon. As the sun drops low behind the tall pines, it casts massive, cobalt-blue shadows stretching straight toward you across the heavy snowbanks, while the remaining sunlight glows like liquid gold through the trees. I painted this with bold, textured oil strokes to honor that fleeting moment when the woods borrow the last warm light of the day before twilight sets in.

The special top coating of this paper gives it unique precision, contrast and color saturation for a matte medium. It is also much more resistant to water spills than most fine art paper.
